Wendy Crockett

AKA BionicPelvis

When Wendy first started riding at the age of 18, she had no inkling of where her powersports passions would take her. She quickly realized that her riding buddies didn’t enjoy big mile days nearly as much as she did; as her confidence as a motorcyclist grew, she realized she could hit the road solo and ride to her heart’s content. She became a multiple factory certified powersports technician in 2001 and worked at dealerships until she opened her own shop, The CycleSmiths, in 2004.

In 2003 Wendy discovered the Iron Butt Association and, elated to find other people who enjoyed saddle time as much as she did, immediately began completing certified long distance rides. In 2009 she competed in her first 11-day, 11,000-mile Iron Butt Rally.

She has gone on to successfully finish six Iron Butt Rallies, more than any other female competitor to date; all of them were on the same 2005 Yamaha FJR motorcycle, meaning her bike has completed more IBRs than any other single motorcycle. She has finished Top Ten in four IBRs and in 2019 she became the first woman ever to win the event. All told, she has ridden nearly 325,000 miles in long distance events in the US, Canada, Mexico and Australia. She has ridden in 17 endurance competitions, placing Top Ten in 14 of them; six of those were podium finishes, having achieved one 3rd place, three 2nd place, and two 1st place finishes. She has earned Iron Butt Association certificates on a wide variety of bikes, including a Zontes 150cc, a Zontes 310cc, and her Suzuki Bandit 1200 sidecar rig.

Wendy is a wanderer at heart and works with motorcycles in several different capacities, which gives her the flexibility and freedom to travel and explore. Her current home base is Rapid City, South Dakota with her husband and daughter, but you never know where her next adventure will take her.
